Transient: The Ship of Dreams and Nightmares
‘Transient: The Ship of Dreams and Nightmares’ took the form of a Mediterranean refugee boat. drawing on the geographical similarity between the historic migration of maiolica and the migration routes of contemporary refugees and asylum seekers. The work consisted of a series of suspended maiolica objects, representing either the dream of a new life in a place of refuge or the nightmare of conflict and displacement. It won the BCB 2021 Award for excellence, innovation and creative ambition.
