Cultural Icons
Cultural Icons took inspiration from the history and tradition of the Staffordshire flat-back. Project curators Tessa Peters and Christie Brown invited five figurative ceramicists to respond to the historic flat-back portrait figures in the collections of the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery and to comment on aspects of mainstream culture, society and politics today. Dixon’s pieces took a satirical view of controversial political events such as Brexit and the chaotic presidency of Donald Trump.
