'Jaali' an Islamic Art Project
The Jaali Exhibition features work of Muslim Textile Artist Abeer Kayani alongside Poet and novelist Dr Nazneen Ahmed Pathak. In an eight-metre-long window space the artists draw upon their Muslim heritage, Islamic art and its relation to their life in Southampton. Exploring elements of light-play, geometric design, hand dye and screen-printed techniques, Abeer Kayani crafts a range of panels demonstrating the process of constructing a geometric pattern using accurate lines, circles and a grid.
