To create her huge, hypnotic-looking sculptures, artist Halima Cassell uses clay, wood, bronze, glass and a host of other materials. But throughout her work, one thing remains a constant: pattern. ‘It’s a universal language, understood by all of us in our own ways,’ she says. ‘Pattern can say as much about the viewer as the maker.’
In this talk hosted by Crafts magazine editor Debika Ray, Cassell shares more about her diverse creative process, inspirations, and her ambitions for the future. The conversation took place at the 2022 edition of Collect art fair at Somerset House.
