Our education work draws on 15 years' experience of supporting craft in the classroom, including projects such as Firing Up (2010-2013) and Make Your Future (2016-2020). Craft School, our national craft challenge for learners aged 5-16, invites children, young people, their teachers and craft educators to engage with the power of craft thinking and making.
We work closely with our networks of schools, teachers and maker educators to secure the future of craft in the classroom, creating resources to support learning nationwide and delivering projects such as Firing Up and Make Your Future.
Our Craft Educators Facebook group is home to a growing community of practice, and our web pages provide free access to teaching resources, lesson plans and skills progression frameworks, for all educational phases.
We are proud to be an Artsmark Partner organisation and offer resources and support to help all schools build craft into their creative and cultural offer.
Our education work is underpinned by Make First, our craft education pedagogy.
We're also an Arts Award Centre and Supporter, with a range of tools to ensure you take part in or deliver a craft-based Arts Award.
Craft learning doesn’t stop at school; we champion opportunities for people of all ages to benefit from the wellbeing benefits of making, at home and as part of a community. Increasingly, we are exploring the role of craft in improving lives and promoting social justice.
