I am a Scottish studio potter working from my garden workshop just South of Edinburgh. Teapots and moon jars speak to me as symbols of community and ritual. I enjoy the sensory experience that porcelain offers on the wheel. Taking inspiration from the meditative nature of the process itself, I am concerned with creating balanced, graceful forms. Some surfaces are treated with bold, loose calligraphic, gestural brush strokes which contrast with the conformity of shape.
I try always to fire economically, using an electric kiln. I recycle clay and work from my studio in my back garden.
