Carlyn Lindsay Designer-Maker

Using wood and veneers Carlyn makes blocks which she then turns by hand on a lathe to create her pieces, often boxes and lidded vessels, hollow pots, bowls and cutlery handles. The process is creative, mathematical and skilful. Inspired by architecture, industry, the natural world. Pieces are sold via exhibitions and by commission.

Carlyn uses British hardwoods, mainly sycamore to create her pieces and uses re-claimed woods such as piano keys for any smaller parts. Re-cycled silver is important as is packaging which also includes re-claimed timber for lids, cardboard and re-cyclable paper. Wood shavings a re-purposed. I process timber on my premises and support local businesses for printing etc.
