Ash & Plumb craft sculptural vessels from responsibly sourced green oak in their South Downs studio. Drawing inspiration from ancient forms and traditional craftsmanship, they create one-off pieces that blend history with contemporary design. Both largely self-taught, Barnaby Ash is a QEST Turners’ Company Scholar. Recent highlights include exhibiting at Homo Faber in Venice and being a finalist in the QEST Sanderson Rising Star awards. Their work was also featured at Collect Open 2024.
At Ash & Plumb, sustainability drives our entire process. We use responsibly sourced, unseasoned oak to celebrate the natural beauty of wood and reduce waste. Our wood shavings are repurposed for gardens, footpaths, and bedding at the old dairy farm where we’re based, and we share them with local workshops, including a mushroom grower and a natural wall plasterer. Through these practices, we honour nature while preserving traditional craftsmanship for future generations.
