Who are the people forging a future for craft? Inside the relaunch issue of Crafts, we hear from furniture restorer and TV star Jay Blades; artist Cecilia Vicuña, whose textile installation has taken over Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall; jewellery maker and weaver Esna Su; pioneering fashion designer Bethany Williams; ceramicist, craft collector, fisherman and farmer Kazunori Hamana, and many others.
We bring you columns by Booker Prize-winning author (and sometimes-knitter) Bernardine Evaristo, future forecaster Lidewij Edelkoort, and the ever-dapper Community Clothing founder Patrick Grant.
Elsewhere, we explore the past, present and future of cotton, and, as times get tough for leather, we get under the skin of the material.
Join us as we go behind the scenes at the east London foundry that makes works for the art world’s A-listers, review the handmade cannabis-smoking accessories emerging after a wave of legalisation hits north America, and ask how parenthood and creativity could go hand in hand.

Launch party
We celebrated the Autumn/Winter 2022 issue and the start of a new era for Crafts at the Crafts Council Gallery on 3 November. Members were invited to meet the team behind the freshly redesigned publication, as well as some of our contributors, featured makers and fellow readers.
Crafts was accompanied by music from glass artist DJ Obeka AKA Jahday Ford and drinks courtesy of our new partner X Muse Vodka.
