5&20 and Halima Cassell: Celebrating exceptional contemporary craft
Don't miss our two free exhibitions presenting works exhibited over 20 years of Collect art fair, alongside winners of the Brookfield Properties Craft Award
Mariposa by Halima Cassell, 2024. Purchased for Crafts Council as part of the 2024 Brookfield Properties Craft Award Winner acquisition.
14 May - 26 September 2024, 9am - 5pm Monday to Saturday.
5&20 is taking place at 99 Bishopsgate, London. Halima Cassell's solo exhibition is taking place nearby at 30 Fenchurch Street. Both exhibitions are free to visit, with no booking required.
The exhibition 5&20 celebrates the collaboration with Brookfield Properties and our combined milestone anniversaries in 2024 – five years of the Brookfield Properties Craft Award and 20 years of the vanguard for international contemporary craft and design, Collect art fair.
This one-off celebration show, supported with funding from London EC BID, will exhibit over 30 artworks from Crafts Council collection, with a direct link to Collect. These objects, which form part our national collection for craft, include ceramics, jewellery, glass, bronze, vibrant textile art and dramatic hand painted wall hangings. Many have not been shown to the public for years, making 5&20 a landmark moment for contemporary craft.

This dynamic showcase includes works by all five Brookfield Properties Craft Award Prize winners, all of whom have taken part in Collect over its 20 years, including the most recent recipient ceramicist Halima Cassell MBE.
Halima Cassell also enjoys a solo show nearby at 30 Fenchurch Street. Cassell, recognised as one of the most distinctive and dynamic sculptural ceramicists in the UK, was announced as the winner of the 2024 Brookfield Properties Craft Award in March. Born in 1975 in Kashmir, growing up in Manchester and now living in Shropshire, Cassell’s multi-cultural background is tangibly present in her work, which is held in numerous public and private collections worldwide, including the Victoria & Albert Museum and The Hepworth Wakefield, among others.
