After years immersed in fine art textiles as both artist and educator, 2022 marked a turning point in my creative journey. It was a year of expansion: deepening connections with fellow creatives, broadening my artistic horizons, and pushing the boundaries of my practice. Rooted in the dramatic and fragile landscapes of North Devon, my work does not seek to replicate their forms but to explore their textures, moods, and quiet rhythms through the language of cloth and stitch.
Focus:
Landscapes have long inspired artists, but for me, textiles offers a uniquely tactile and emotional way to engage with place. I am drawn to the idea of inviting viewers to “watch where you tread".
I work with recycled, found, and locally sourced materials, selecting fabrics for their honesty, texture, and connection to place. Embracing natural processes like solar dyeing and mono printing, I create quietly reflective pieces that honour the fragility of the environment. Stitch and appliqué emerge organically, allowing the work to evolve slowly and sustainably, rooted in care and respect for the natural world.
